ES skate shoes was founded by Pierre- Andre as a more technical alternative to his other skate shoe company, Etnies. Focusing on more technically oriented shoes compared to other brands skateboard shoes at the time, in both aesthetic and function, ES became a player in the skateboard industry. Rider Sal Barbier left Etnies to ride for ES and made his famous SAL 23 shoe.
